Message from the President

Welcome to all of our new members from the Paws in the Park event!

Dog owners are a loyal bunch. Just like our canine companions, we have a steadfast bond with our dogs, fellow dog owners and the communities in which we reside. If you've ever stepped foot inside a dog park, you know nothing starts a conversation among humans like their dogs playing with one another.

Building a Dog Park

The mission of the Randolph Dog Club is to work with the Montgomery County government to build an off-leash dog park on existing land within Randolph Hills Local Park. Dog parks have many advantages: they promote responsible dog ownership, reduce criminal activity in adjoining areas, properly socialize dogs and provide an exercise outlet which keeps dogs physically and emotionally healthy. Additionally, our community is ideal for a new dog park. We have underutilized existing park land while being centrally located in the down-county area with a number of dedicated dog owners.

Please Join Us

We encourage our neighbors in Garrett Park, Kensington, North Bethesda, Twinbrook, Aspen Hill, southern Rockville and western Wheaton to join us. You need not even be a dog owner; if you formerly owned dogs, are thinking about getting one, happen to be a pet sitter or pet-care worker, local business or just a dog lover, we need your support -- membership is free by joining our Yahoo group. Montgomery County only has three dog parks for over 25,000 licensed dogs, a ratio of 8333:1, with the closest dog park at Wheaton Regional Park in the Forest Glen area of Silver Spring. Montgomery County has recognized the need for additional parks, but it's up to RDC members to make one a reality.

Please keep your eyes on this space in the coming weeks as we plan meetings with county officials, on-leash dog walks for club members and other events for you and your pooch.

Does your dog like to ...

  • ...run off leash?
  • ...socialize with other dogs?
  • ...get lots of outdoor exercise?

Then join us in working towards getting a new dog park! See below to sign up for our e-mail list.

The Club is affiliated and sonsored by the Randolph Civic Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement of our community.
